Richard T. Simmons, Jr.
Mr. Simmons is a Managing Partner in the Metairie office and has been with the firm since 1982. He previously served as Chief of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's office in New Orleans from 1978 to 1982. He specializes in complex criminal and civil litigation, internal corporate investigations, professional malpractice defense and environmental law. Notable representations include: Dr. Anna Pou during the Louisiana Attorney General's investigation into patient deaths in the wake of Katrina; Walter Reed, District Attorney of St. Tammany Parish (Campaign Fund violations); James Wyllie, business partner to Governor Edwin Edwards; Jefferson Parish Councilman Robert Evans; and actor Paul Burke. Mr. Simmons provided appellate representation of Lt. William Calley in the My Lai Vietnam incident and represented Louisiana State Senator Michael O'Keefe. He was also a prosecutor in the Brilab case of United States v Carlos Marcello. He has been listed on Best Lawyers in White Collar Criminal Defense and Super Lawyers for over 15 years.
